Amazonite Hand Carved Frog 3.10"

This adorable amphibian is hand-carved into Amazonite. He sits on a base that triangle triangle-shaped. The front and bottom are flat and smooth and the sides are left rough. With the brown layer running through the milky blue colors, it looks as if he's sitting on a slice of Amazonite pie. He is 3.10" from base to tip and just over 2" tall.

The frog as a spirit animal or totem reminds us of the transient nature of our lives. As a symbol of transition and transformation, the frog supports us in times of change. The gem was first named “Amazon stone”, after the Amazon River - although there are no known occurrences near that river. Amazonite has been used as a gem for over 2000 years. It has been found in archaeological excavations of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Amazonite ranges from colorless to white, yellow, bluish, pink, red, gray, or many different shades of green, from pale green to bluish aqua-green.
